  • List five input devices and three output devices that might be attached to a PC. Describe a typical use for each.
INPUT:
1. Keyboard: used for typing
2. Mouse: used for moving the pointer and clicking different links and files.
3. Joy Stick: a controller used for arcade games
4. Touchpad: a substitute for mouse, used by dragging finger across to move pointer.
5. Smart White board: used to do activities during meetings or classes, similar to a projector.

OUTPUT:
1. Monitor: a one-way window between computer and user.
2. Printer: produces a hard copy to paper.
3. Projectors: projects screen images for meetings and classes.
  • Name and describe three special-purpose input devices people commonly use in public places, such as stores, banks, and libraries.
-Bar code Readers: uses light to read codes created from patterns and such.
-RFID: (radio frequency identification tags). these tags broadcast its unique identification number to the reader which digitizes the info for input into a comp.
-Magnetic ink character readers: reads odd-shaped numbers printed with magnetic ink on checks.
  • Many people find that the mouse is impractical for use as a pointing device on a laptop computer. Describe at least three alternatives that are more appropriate.
